A Recipe for Christmas by Jo Thomas ~ Review & Blog Tour

Writer's picture: HalesHales

Take one woman longing for the perfect Christmas . . .

All Clara has ever wanted is Christmas surrounded by loved ones, full of warmth and delicious food. So when her new boyfriend asks her to move to Switzerland, she can't help but say yes! After all, what could be more perfect than Christmas in the Alps?

Add a dash of surprise

She quickly signs up for a tempting chocolate-making class, but it turns out to be chocolate-making bootcamp! And her boyfriend isn't all he seemed either . . .

And enjoy a magical festive treat!

Despite it all, Clara begins to make friends - including the aloof yet intriguing Gabriel. With all of the ingredients at her fingertips, will she finally be able to whisk up her Christmas dream?

I loved this read, It got me feeling festive and also craving chocolate so I'd recommend having some handy whilst you read it! I really liked Clara our main character, she was feeling a bit lost so though why not and took a leap of faith! Although it didn't quite turn out like she was expecting I think it was okay.

Her boyfriend Daniel, was a prize idiot! You coudl just tell from the off that it wasn't going to go well as he seemed very self absorbed, and very untidy! I thought that the dates were a good idea though as they had got together and moved very quickly!

I loved some of the scenes at the chocolate school, some of the fellow students were brutal and the judges were not much better! I was really glad that she tried to stick it out as much as she could. I must say that I felt so sorry for Alain who worked at the school, he was invisible to the judges and mentors and you could tell he had so much more to give.

I liked Gabriel's character too, you could however tell that something was off with him but it wasn't fully clear what that was. I liked how he wanted to help Clara as he could tell that she was passionate about chocolate. I loved the writing style and seemed to fly through the book. The most important question I have at the end is how many Lindor's can I fit into my mouth at once!!
