Review & Blog Tour ~ Every Trick In The Book by Bernard O'Keeffe

Writer's picture: HalesHales

Sex, Money, Drugs…DI Garibaldi is on the case. DI Garibaldi and his team are shocked when they discover that local writer, Ben Joseph, has been killed in the same manner and at the same location as the victim in his crime novel 'Schooled in Murder', the night after appearing at the Barnes Book Festival. It transpires the author is in fact a retired private school teacher who has been blackmailing several of his colleagues. As the police delve into the links between fiction and reality, the question looms: could the key to the writer's murder be hidden with the pages of his own novel?

I loved this book! I really like our main character DI Garibaldi (even though it does make me want a biscuit every time I read his name 🤣) he seems a really likeable character. This is the first book of the series that I have read so I’m unsure if there is details in one of the two previous books but he is clearly dealing with something from his childhood and this intrigues me.

He is a great character and I love the way that his mind seems to work. I also love the fact that he likes books! I think the supporting characters with him are great and like his relationship with Rachel as it sounds like his ex-wife was a nightmare!

The storyline itself was very clever, with the murder identical to the one that the author had written in the book. And then the clues that were laced within the book but very well hidden were just brilliant.

I found that I had to keep reading as although DI Garibaldi and the team were finding clues there didn’t seem to be any evidence to help point them at anyone and I just lived the way it built up to the ending. Really well written and now I need to go back and read the first two books in the series to see if I have missed anything about our DI! You can grab a copy of the book here #Aff

Huge thank you to Random Things Tours & Bernard O'Keeffe for allowing me to take part in the blog tour in exchange for a free honest review.
