Review & Blog Tour ~ The Dead of Night by Robert Enright

Someone is killing...

After three years undercover in some of the most dangerous gangs in the UK, DS Jack Townsend, along with his wife and young daughter, relocate to a pleasant village in Buckinghamshire. A promise of a fresh start, a chance to reconnect, and the opportunity to join the Thames Valley Police's Specialist Crimes Unit (SCU).

Headed up by DI Isabella King, the SCU is handed its first case when the body of a woman is found in the woods of Wycombe Rye, the victim of a brutal stabbing.

As the body count begins to rise, and with the clock ticking, the newly formed team must navigate their new surroundings, a depleted budget, and a quiet town shaken to its core to stop a killer who is spiralling out of control..

Every victim deserves justice.

I loved this book! I loved meeting DS Jack Townsend who feels like he has something to prove as his promotion was almost 'payback' for his time undercover. However, being placed in the newly formed SCU, which is supposed to be cold cases stuck in the basement will he be given his chance?

I loved the storyline and really enjoyed reading it unfold. I liked that we found out a little more about Jacks personal life as well as DI Isabella King's as she has skeletons in her closet also. I really thought the balance between the main storyline and giving us the intro's into our main characters was perfect.

I had worked out who was responsible ahead of the book reveal but I did not anticipate the reveal scenes until they started unfolding and I was literally on the edge of my seat, honestly incredible! I think one of my favourite 'scenes' in the book is where Jack ask's his wife for permission - and what unfolds is just brilliant.

I cannot wait to read the next book already and see what happens! You can grab your copy of this here #Aff

Huge Thank you to Robert Enright & Random Things Tours for the ARC.
