Review & Blog Tour ~ The Escape Room by L. D. Smithson

Writer's picture: HalesHales

Everything is a clue.

Bonnie arrives on a remote sea fort off the coast of England to take part in a mysterious reality TV show. Competing against seven strangers, she must solve a series of puzzles to win the prize money, but this is no game - and the consequences of failure are deadly.

No one leaves.

Under scrutiny from the watching public, the contestants quickly turn on one another. Who will sacrifice the most for wealth and fame? And why can't Bonnie shake the creeping sense that they are not alone?

The only way out is to win.

When the first contestant is found dead, Bonnie begins to understand the dark truth at the heart of this twisted competition: there's a killer inside the fort, and anyone could be next. If Bonnie wants to escape, she needs to win...

Are you ready to play?

I absolutely loved this book. I was gripped from the beginning and couldn't put it down. the more that the 'game' was going on the more I had to read. I really liked our main character Bonnie, who was only on the show as her sister had broken her leg and Bonnie was pretending to be Clara. Yes there were moments when Bonnie wasn't the nicest character, however, I really do not blame her.

I thought that the concept of the book was really clever and could see exactly why the 'contestants' thought that it was great - to start with! I think that the mix of characters would have actually made great tv and there was some big personalities within them and some even bigger ego's.

I really enjoyed that we were finding out what the 'game' actually entailed as the 'contestants' were working it out and thought the used of the clues and riddles was clever and did get you thinking to see if you could work it out before carrying on reading.

I think the thing that was really great is the fact that we had no clue who was behind it all or why they were doing what they were doing until we got to the ending. Really well written and it had me gripped throughout. If you'd like to grab a copy then you can do so here #Aff
