He survived—but can he ever truly escape? A chilling psychological novel about damage, desperation, and a man trapped by childhood trauma.
When Monty was a child, he killed his father. His father had been kidnapping and murdering women for years, forcing Monty to help. Monty survived—physically. He was adopted by a wonderful, caring family and is now a wealthy and successful man. On the outside.
But now, the last of his adoptive family has died. Monty lives alone in his beautiful manor house in rural northern England, and the closest thing he has to a friend is his faithful employee, George.
Monty has tried to live a good life, but his father’s deeds haunt him. And with each passing day he’s finding it more and more difficult to ignore the blood that runs through his veins . . .

WOW!! I loved this book! It had me hooked instantly and I needed to find out more about what had happened to Monty when he was a boy. I loved the way we were in the present time but did go back occasionally to find out more about his childhood and what had happened.
The storyline of the present day had me engrossed - I was not sure where this was heading. As I was reading, I was convinced that I was piecing together what was happening and I was convinced that George was up to no good from midway through the book.
The ending - that twist - mind blown!! Absolutely NOT what I was expecting! It was just brilliant, honestly an incredible debut novel - I am excited to read more from Charlotte if they are all going to be this good. You can grab a copy here #Aff
