Review & Readalong ~ Hindsight by Mary Turner Thomson

Writer's picture: HalesHales

In a fusion of past and present, Catherine’s world spirals into chaos when a mysterious childhood memory unveils haunting recollections of a life she never lived. The mesmerising saga of Merwynn, a defiant 9th-century Saxon ensnared in Viking intrigue, beckons from deep within her psyche. Every revelation from Merwynn’s era sends ripples through Catherine’s existence as she grapples with the weight of their entwined destinies.Forcing her to confront stark parallels in their quests for love and liberation in worlds that seem determined to chain them. With each layer of Merwynn’s history, Catherine’s own life frays, driving her to a precipice: will she succumb or muster the strength to redefine her destiny?

Dive deep into a poignant narrative that examines the essence of identity, the scars of generational trauma, and the transformative effects of empowerment. HINDSIGHT doesn’t merely invite readers to witness a journey - it challenges them to question the very fabric of freedom. Catherine’s desperate search for clarity between illusion and reality is a testament to human resilience and the eternal hope that binds souls across ages.

I really enjoyed this book. I thought the way it was Catherine and Merrwyn’s stories entwined was really interesting to read and I liked the fact that it was a very easy flow between the two stories and not confusing like some books with dual stories.

I really liked Catherine from the start but did feel that there was something a little sad about her, as the storyline developed, I just wanted her to discover what she needed to and be okay.

Merrwyn’s character was also likeable and reading what she endured just showed how strong she was, again I felt so sorry for her at times but glad that she got the ending of her story that she chose.

I loved the writing style of this book and found that it just flowed really well. I felt that I became very invested in the stories very quickly and just had to keep reading to see where these stories were ending.

If you have been reading my answers to the readalong then you will know that I had suspicions about Edward who we meet in Catherine’s story. As I try my very best to not do spoilers you will need to grab a copy to see if I was right or not with them. You can grab a copy here #Aff
