How many bad men can one woman have in her life?
1979. Leading businesswoman Rebecca is struggling to build healthy relationships. Her on off partner is a philandering police officer, part of the team chasing the Yorkshire Ripper who’s striking terror across the county.
Then Rebecca meets Larry, the charming American, with a troubled past.
And then of course there’s Mervyn, the creepy journalist who’s desperate for a girlfriend and willing to do anything to keep her in his life.
With three very different men craving her attention, and a serial killer on the loose, Rebecca finds herself in a twisted game of cat and mouse.
But what do these men really want from her? Can any of them be trusted? And could one of them in fact be a cold-blooded killer?
I really enjoyed this book, I liked our main character Rebecca. She was a strong, successful businesswoman which was not very common back when the book was set. She had lost her dad when she was young but had turned that into something really positive.
She did however, seem to have a knack for attracting unsuitable men! And they were unsuitable for different reasons, some more sinister than others! I thought that it was very clever that one of her unsuitable men was a married police officer who was on the Yorkshire ripper case. Having that going on alongside our main storyline really added to the tension.
I must say though, although unsuitable as he was married, Simon was actually really caring and was really good at helping Rebecca out. I also thought that she had a good group of friends and family as they didn’t just laugh her off when she told them her suspicions.
The tension at the end, I was literally gripped and on the edge of my seat as I couldn’t believe how close she’d got to the date she had planned and then everything happened! I really wasn’t expecting it to happen like that.
