Love thy neighbour. Fear thy neighbour.
I thought moving to this quiet cul-de-sac was the fresh start my husband and I needed, escaping the noise of our cramped flat in Hounslow. I left India and all that was familiar for a new life with him in England.
But my husband works all hours, leaving me alone in a house that doesn’t feel like a home.
Our neighbours notice the bruises on my arms. They draw the obvious conclusions.
They seem kind, but they’re hiding something.
I just can’t shake the feeling that someone is always watching me . . . waiting.
My husband’s working late. Again. That’s when I see it.
A face pressed to the glass.
A hand waving.
It couldn’t be. Could it?

I really enjoyed this book. I liked how it was written and we had the snippets from now and then the parts from the past few months giving us the full story. Our main character was Sapna, and you just felt for her from the moment you 'met' her. She seemed like such a lovely person but you could tell that she was sad.
It wasn't just that she was homesick, she just didn't feel right in the house that was to be her first marital home. Her husband Amir was just brushing her concerns aside and was working all hours to be able to afford the rent - but he was definately hiding something from Sapna. She however, was hiding something from him too!
The neighbours were also featured heavily with Gemma and Edith both getting involved in wactching over Sapna's house. They too were hiding secrets. I can honestly say that for a 'quiet' little cul de sac - there was a lot going on! The chapters were short which meant that I seemed to speed through it, piecing together the information which kept you guessing until the end.
